Some fixes

Spore has received the second patch, for the PC at the moment. The big features of the patch are an ability to use the classic Control and Shift methods for selections of multiple creations and creation ranges in the Sporepedia. Also, in what might prove to be a controversial move, there are now Cubic planets in the videogame.

There are also a couple of fixes related to the graphics and audio aspects of the game. The terraforming visual cues are now more accurate and there are better gaits for all multi legged creatures and for those creatures which do not have feet. The lag related to the music elements has also been limited through the patch.

The developers say that social paths in the Tribal stage are easier to pursue, in response to complaints from players that they basically needed to become warriors in order to win. There are also a lot of fixes related to various crashes which some people experienced.

The bad news is that the patch does not seem to address most of the pressing issues with the game. You can still only create one account per copy of the game; thus, any of the things I do in my game also affect my brother if he wants to try out Spore. Electronic Arts has promised to allow multiple screen names per account to solve issues related to this limitation.

The company has also promised to make sure that it implements a new system increasing the number of limited installs you are allowed to use and implementing a way of de-activating the game on some machines. There's no news on the time these two options will be added to Spore.
