When it was first announced that they were remaking the classic horror “Nightmare on Elm Street,” fans doubted the upcoming film would be able to do justice to the original series, which is still considered the best the horror genre has to offer. Coming to put the fans at ease,
recently emerged spoilers, coming straight from members of the cast, say that the film will certainly deliver for not even trying to copy the original.
The film is out this April and, from what cast members are saying to both
Bloody Disgusting and
Dark Horizons, two of the biggest horror film-oriented e-zines, it will certainly be a hit with fans. For starters, “Nightmare” will not even try to win over audiences through gore or scenes that the “Saw” franchise has elevated to the rang of art (according to some). Instead, it will focus on the story and will attempt to make the film a terrifying experience mostly through it.
“By the nature of the film, it’s not as bloody as Friday the 13th or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. This is more of a film that makes you have nightmares and gets under your skin in a real way, and that is what we are going for. Having said that, there is plenty of blood; when people are getting slashed there is blood to be had and we are not skimping on it,” producer Brad Fuller says, assuring fans that, while the film will not count on cheap scares, it will certainly not be lacking blood where it’s necessary.
Oscar-nominated actor Jackie Earle Haley, who will now be starring as Freddy, promises the same:
the film will be terrifying not because it will aim to do so but because of the depth of the characters portrayed. “We delve in a little bit more and we learn a little bit more. But it’s very based on stuff that we’ve learned prior. I think he’s a bit more serious than what we’ve seen before. [Freddy’s] a little more [enraged],” Haley explains. Then again, fans had little doubt that Haley wouldn’t be able to walk in Freddy’s large shoes.
