Who else could have rolled out a great PS3 controller, such as FragFX, except the famous peripheral maker SplitFish? They've shipped the additional controller today, which will be available in select locations as soon as next week. The controller (pictured left - click to enlarge) will mostly aid you in browsing and of course, as its name implies, in making frags - perfect for a first-person shooter.

This doesn't mean good bye SIXAXIS, but clearly, there
will be a significant difference for Resistance: Fall of Man gamers and hardcore users of Sony's PlayStation Network, as I'm sure browsing will be much more natural and PC-like.

The official report today also reveals that despite no formal announcement of a pre-order program for the FragFx, SplitFish's website has been besieged by consumers in recent months, leaving only a limited supply going to: Amazon, GameStop, eBay etc. However, they have increased production so don't worry, you'll get your own.

"The FragFX finally makes the console gaming waters safe for PC gamers to swim in," said Cisco Schipperheijn, CEO of Splitfish Gameware. "We created the FragFX to enhance PlayStation 3 owners overall gaming experience. We believe that when consumers compare the cost to upgrade to a Vista Game System relative to the PS3 and FragFX combination gamers will see the benefit."

Basically, the FragFX controller works with all games and game styles. It's been designed especially for the PS3, doubling as an optimized mouse for PS Home and Browser navigation. It's faster, more accurate and easier to use than a standard PS3 controller as you can imagine. And of course, as no one would have it any other way, the controller's sensitivity can be adjusted. Here are its main features:

- Just plug it in and play
- Faster and more accurate
- All games supported
- An optical mouse for higher control
- Full SixAxis motion control
- Frag button for pinpoint movements
- Dynamic mouse sensitivity adjustments
- Adjustable motion sensitivity
- Motion level calibration
- Programmable motion over-ride
- Analog Stick Swap Ability
- Firmware upgradeable
- PS2 games support on PS3
- Doubles as navigation mouse

Just as I've said above, the controller is perfect for FPSs. According to TwitchGuru, "... the controller provided me with an almost immediate improvement to my FPS skills on Resistance, and the extra value of the speed dial and Frag button make the product even more attractive."

It's $59.99, I know, but think of how many more Chimera you'll blast away with your health bar untouched.
