Microsoft and Ubisoft have confirmed that they are collaborating on a bundle featuring an Xbox 360 home gaming console and a copy of the upcoming Splinter Cell: Conviction, the adventure featuring Sam Fischer, which was delayed so many times. Gamers will be able to pick up the bundle on April 13, on the same day the normal edition of the title is outed in North America. Splinter Cell: Conviction is also coming to the PC on the same date and will be offered on sale in Europe on April 15.

Those who pick up the bundle will get a black Xbox 360 Elite console, complete with the highly coveted 250 GB hard drive, two wireless controllers, and a copy of Splinter Cell: Conviction. The entire package will cost fans no less than 399 dollars, the tag that bundles usually go for these days.

Microsoft has committed to quite a number of similar packages in the last few months. Modern Warfare 2, the first person shooter hit from Infinity Ward and Activision Blizzard, was the first to get the 250 GB hard drive and Final Fantasy XIII, which is coming in early March, is also getting it as part of a special package.

The main reason is the fact that sales of the software giant’s device tend to perform better in the NPD Group sales data when high profile bundles are launched, which means that the numbers for March and April are set to be better than expected after the last few announcements.

The Xbox 360 is seeing some tough competition from the PlayStation 3, which received a price cut and a new Slim version in August 2009, although the reputation of creator Sony was sullied in late February by the ApocalyPS3, which saw older consoles unable to access the PSN and users lose personal data like saves and Trophies.
