Jade Raymond, the leader of the team working on Splinter Cell: Blacklist, says that her Ubisoft Toronto studio has listened to the hardcore fans of the franchise and will balance classic gameplay with interesting new features.

She tells Edge that, “The thing with Splinter Cell is there some very vocal fans who really love the series and they really love it for certain reasons.”

The developer adds that Ubisoft is “finding a balance of innovating while staying true to the roots has been one of the big challenges, but not one driven by management – it’s about wanting to please the fans.”

Blacklist will see protagonist Sam Fisher created a new Fourth Echelon in order to tackle a number of new terror threats.

The game will give players plenty of options linked to stealth, but going in guns blazing is also a possibility.
