After a few rumors, Splinter Cell: Blacklist has been confirmed for the Nintendo Wii U by Ubisoft, who even released a screenshot showing how owners of the console can use the GamePad during gameplay.

Blacklist is the next installment in the long-running Splinter Cell franchise and promises a return to the roots of the series by delivering an experience geared towards stealth, but also allowing more action-oriented players to go through its levels in whatever way they want.

Now, after confirming that the game is going to appear for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, Ubisoft has revealed, via AGB, that Splinter Cell: Blacklist is coming to the Nintendo Wii U.

The new title features full support for the GamePad, as you can see above, as well as for motion-based input so expect the Wii U edition to stand out from the rest.

No other details were shared, but you can expect to hear more about Blacklist throughout the summer ahead of its release on August 20, in North America, and August 23, in Europe and the rest of the world.
