Ubisoft has confirmed that its upcoming Splinter Cell: Blacklist stealth game has four different types of cooperative modes and detailed two of them, while confirming that over 14 unique missions will be available.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist promises to return to what made the series great, and Ubisoft detailed a few weeks ago the Spy vs. Mercenaries competitive mode. It has now posted the first details about the cooperative experience.

Four different mission types are included in the co-op mode, according to Ubisoft Toronto's Zach Cooper. These will be given by different members of Sam Fisher's 4th Echelon team.

The story-based campaign missions will be offered by Isaac Briggs and support the three different play styles.

"The Isaac Briggs missions are the Co-Op campaign missions, in that they’ve got their own storyline which is tied into the core Blacklist narrative," Cooper wrote on the PS blog. "Those missions have to be played with a partner (split-screen or online)."

"Briggs has tactical expertise, being former Army and CIA, and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty should the situation call for it. His missions have all sorts of exotic sequences, and play to the three play styles (Ghost, Panther, Assault)."

Others, however, are going to be handed out by characters like Grim and have different requirements.

"The Grim (Anna Grimsdottir) missions are great for the hardcore: the Ghosts. She’s focused on intel and analytics, chasing leads for valuable data. She wants you to get in and out, and to complete the objective without leaving a trace. The missions Grim provides need to be completed without detection – if you’re spotted, you start from the beginning."

There are 14 unique missions in Splinter Cell: Blacklist, according to Cooper, which were developed by Ubisoft Shanghai and polished by the core team in Toronto.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist is out on August 20 for PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.
