Despite solid premiere ratings, network deems biker “toxic,” says report

Jesse James continues to be America’s Most Hated Man, says a tidbit in Parade magazine, summing up various opinions now circulating online. To add insult to injury, though he’s currently in rehab trying to get some help for whatever problem he has that turned him into a serial cheater, word transpired that Spike TV also canceled his show, despite solid ratings for the premiere.

The report comes from inside sources talking to the National Enquirer (story via here) and says that, while the show was canceled before the cheating scandal broke, network bosses consider James very toxic. So they simply decided to rid themselves of him, even though audiences seemed to warm up to him. Further details on what prompted the decision are not provided but, should the report happen to be accurate, they are bound to emerge soon.

“Arguably, the most despised serial cheater in America, Sandra Bullock’s bad boy hubby Jesse James has been axed. The reality lothario’s Spike TV show Jesse James Is a Dead Man has been canceled. Allegedly, the decision to deep-six the dogged Jesse came before his cheating was outed by tattooed mistress Michelle McGee. Experts say the 41 year old is more than radioactive with tawdry tales of homemade Nazi tapes with other women and his betrayal of America’s sweetheart, his Oscar winning wife, Sandy,” the Enquirer writes.

“The 41-year-old husband of actress Sandra Bullock has suffered a public relations nightmare following [the] scandal and the emergence of his Nazi-themed photo. Even his reality TV show Jesse James Is a Dead Man has been cancelled, according to the Daily News. ‘He seems one of this long string of people who get this spectacular moment of attention – every late night comic in America is talking about him,’ said Robert Thompson, professor of television and pop culture at Syracuse University. ‘But the possibility of rallying that into any long term career is not very likely’,” Parade also writes, echoing the previous report in the tabloid.

As we also informed you a while back, since Michelle McGee stepped forward to spill the beans on her affair to Jesse James, the biker only addressed the matter publicly once, to apologize to his wife, Sandra Bullock, and the children whose custody they share. Since going to rehab, his attorney has been doing all the taking for him.
