Ultra-violent original by Chan-wook Park gets American remake, fans aren’t happy

Fans started fuming the second they heard that Spike Lee had plans of remaking the 2003 cult classic film by Chan-wook Park, “Oldboy.” They will now have a chance to see if they had solid grounds for being this upset.

The first official, red-band trailer for the 2013 “Oldboy” has been released, and you can see it in full above.

“Oldboy” stars Josh Brolin as a man who’s imprisoned in a cell for 20 years and then inexplicably set free. He decides to find out who kidnapped him and why, but, along the way, he makes an even more startling discovery.

Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley and Samuel L. Jackson also star.
