Activision has just confirmed the rumors about a new Spiderman video game by releasing a teaser trailer (you can download and watch it following the link at the end of the article) and an official website which still lacks most of the information needed, as expected, since the game has just been announced.

Dubbed Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, it will be made available for all the gaming platforms (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PSP, Nintendo DS, Wii and PC systems) which means that Activision really has some high hopes invested in this one, even though it doesn't want to give us more details.

The story presents a New York City invaded by (supposedly) alien thingies and only Spider-man can save it, while controlling everything on screen. Spider-man: Web of Shadows gives you an unprecedented level of gameplay choice, including, for the first time, control over the game's direction and outcome. You will have the option to choose how Spider-man fights, which powers to upgrade, who in the Marvel Universe to fight with or against, and the fate of New York City itself. Yes, this means that you can play the good ol' superhero or turn into the bad guy and do all the mean things you've always wanted to do.

The strange thing for me is the insertion of other Marvel superheroes or villains in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows... I've always liked to believe that Spidey is the only true superhero and he doesn't need the help of others. Oh, well... Activision definitely knows best how to deal its games and this new title of theirs already promises to be a hit. Now, the only thing left for you to do is to visit the official website and check out the details regarding their voiceover competition - who knows, maybe we'll hear your voice in the game.
