Despite the fact that he is rather busy fighting crime and saving damsels in distress, Spider-Man has agreed to become an ambassador for Earth Hour, and help the World Wildlife Fund, i.e. the event's organizer, raise awareness with respect to environmental issues.

For those unaware, this year's Earth Hour is to be celebrated on March 29, at 8:30 p.m.

On this date and at said hour, people are supposed to turn off the light, remain in the dark for 60 minutes, and thus show that they care about the planet.

What's more, those who want to do more than simply spend an hour in complete darkness can support a green-oriented project of their choice via Earth Hour Blue, a digital crowdfunding and crowdsourcing platform, Ecorazzi reports.

Commenting on Spider-Man's decision to get behind this initiative, Andrew Garfield stated as follows:

“I’m proud Spider-Man is the first Super Hero ambassador for Earth Hour because he shows we can all be Super Heroes when we realize the power we all have.”

“Earth Hour is a movement that has created massive impact around the world, so imagine what we can do this year with Spider-Man by our side,” he added.
