Spider-Man 3 Hints and Glitches II (DS)

Hollywood is seemingly increasing its influence in the gaming industry, as almost every major blockbuster release that borrows the story, elements or characters from pop culture gets a video-game treatment in order to further reach into the mainstream audience.

Such is the case with Spider-Man 3, the latest iteration in the film and video game series featuring the famous comic book super hero. What was one of the most successful movies in the franchise has also received a video game, published by Activision, which arrived on a multitude of platforms, from the more powerful Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to the Nintendo Wii, DS or GameBoy Advance.

The DS title was one of the most praised versions of the game, as it was handled by Vicarious Visions and intensively used the touch screen and the stylus of the device for the gameplay. Also, the D-Pad was employed in order to move the main character around the big world.

Here are some of the most important features, as highlighted by the press release from Activision:

- For the first time ever, control the legendary symbiotic Black Suit, which magnifies Spider-Man’s strength, agility, durability and web powers, but the power comes at a price. The longer gamers play as black suited Spider-Man, the more they risk losing the good in him.
- In a unique mixture of open-ended gameplay and linear story progression, players can traverse and protect massive, wide-open sections of New York City, battle villains from the feature film, or embark on a variety of original story arcs in whatever order they choose, when they choose.
- Maximizing the capabilities of the Nintendo DS, players will experience Spider-Man's unique abilities as never before by controlling both red-suited and black-suited Spider-Man's movement and combat with a multitude of organic touch screen gestures and motions.
- Utilizing an in-depth "hero points" reward system, players can fully customize and upgrade Spider-Man, maximizing his powers and abilities.
- With liberty and multiplayer for all – A variety of local wireless multiplayer gameplay modes such as Brawler, Hot Potato, Target Practice, and Combo Challenge allow for two players to face off in head-to-head Spider-Man action.
- Within the game, various hidden collectibles are waiting to be discovered. Collecting items result[s] in additional hero points and bonus materials.

HINTS

Defeating New Goblin
When the mission starts, Harry will appear above you and throw a Pumpkin Bomb. Dodge it, if possible. If not, wait until he hovers to one at the end of the screen, then use the time to collect health power-ups if you were hit. If you were not hit, swing towards him. Slide the stylus towards him. This will hit him in the air. After you hit him, swing across him and stop. He will throw the Pumpkin Bomb again. Repeat this process until his health reaches zero.

GLITCHES

Cannot leave sewer level
At the end of the sewer level (Chasing Doctor Connors), use Web Slam on one of the Lizard-men in the pit at the door leading out. It will go through the crack of the door and the icon will be under the floor, where you cannot go. The only way to exit is to retry the level.
