The spider entered the man's body through a scar on his abdomen, eventually traveled all the way to his sternum

In what might be this week's absolute freakiest piece of news, a man from West Australia says that, this past Monday, doctors pulled a spider from inside his body. Ever weirder, the man claims that the creature spent 3 days exploring his anatomy before finally being removed.

Courtesy of this bizarre incident, the man, identified as Dylan Thomas, earned the nickname Spider-Man. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any superpowers to go with it. All he has is photos of a mark on his body that proves that he is telling the truth.

An itsy-bitsy spider this way comes

The West Australian man claims that the spider crawled inside his body towards the end of last week, on Friday. At that time, the 21-year-old was visiting the Island of Bali in Indonesia together with some of his friends.

On Saturday, in the early hours of the morning, Dylan Thomas noticed that a really weird mark had formed on his abdomen. By Sunday, the mark was considerably bigger, and the 21-year-old decided to go see a doctor about it.

Specialists at the Bali International Medical Center told him that the mark was probably no more and no less than the result of an insect bite, prescribed him antihistamines and sent him on his way. Unfortunately, the antihistamines failed to help the man feel any better.

On Monday, Dylan Thomas once again visited a medical center. This time, doctors took their time examining the mark on his abdomen, and eventually figured out that it had been caused by a spider that had crawled from the man's stomach all the way to his sternum and that was still inside him.

Having discovered the underlying cause of the weird mark on the 21-year-old's body, specialists used tweezers to remove the tropical spider. At the time they grabbed hold of it and pulled it out of Dylan Thomas' body, the arachnid was dead.

“Well after running tests and putting things inside my stomach they finally found out it was a tropical spider that's been living inside of me for the last 3 days, managed to get it out luckily,” the 21-year-old said in a statement.

“It wasn't really a tickling sensation, obviously once the venom started to affect my skin it was a really burning sensation like a searing feeling,” Dylan Thomas detailed what it felt like to share his body with a tropical spider for three days in a row.

How did the spider get inside this man?

By the looks of it, the tropical spider, whose size was comparable to that of a match head, worked his way inside the 21-year-old's body through a scar on the man's abdomen. Dylan Thomas ended up sporting this scar after having his appendix removed quite a while ago.

Seeing how he never noticed the spider getting inside him – if he had, he surely would have tried to stop it – the 21-year-old West Australian man is quite convinced that the arachnid embarked on its journey across its abdomen sometime during the night, while he was sleeping.
