Indian handset manufacturer Spice Mobile has recently launched the M-9000 Popkorn, a new feature-phone that can project the phone's display on a large screen.

Touted as the next-generation mobile phone technology, the phone's built-in projector is the one and only point of attraction of the device.

However, the M-9000 Popkorn was built on an old technology and that is also reflected in the low price of the phone, which is available for purchase for just Rs. 6,900 (about $160).

In addition, the mobile phone comes with an Analog TV feature that enables users to watch broadcast television and project it on a wall.

Even though this might not be the best substitute for a TV in a modern world, it's certainly a groundbreaking feature in the low-budget mobile phone market.

The M-9000 Popcorn includes a 2.4-inch QVGA display with 320 x 240 pixels resolution and a 3.2-megapixel camera that lacks flash and autofocus.

With the integrated live and scheduled recording of FM radio, users will be able to listen to the latest news, live or recorded.

Potential customers who are worried about the phone's look should know that the M-9000 features a standard bar form factor. It’s not the slimmest phone out there though; the M-9000 measures 119.2 x 50.3 x 17.35mm and weighs 123g (battery included).

It only packs 87 MB of storage, but thanks to the microSD card slot available users will be able to extend it up to 16GB.

Business users might also give the phone a chance as the M-9000 integrates a Document Viewer, which allows for a better view of various office docs on larger screens. The application is compatible with MS Word, Excel, Power Point and PDF.

The only downside is the fact that users will not be able to create documents, unless they install a third-party app.

According to the manufacturer, the phone's 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated for up to 3 hours and 30 minutes of talk time or up to 300 hours of standby time.
