After the disappointing Mel B's refusal to reunite the Spice Girls for the Live 8 concerts, the band member agreed a comeback, but separately. The girls planned to release a greatest hits album next year, to celebrate the ten year anniversary since their debut with "Wannabe".

But the girls didn't get along about the location where the album can be registered, so each one of them will separately record her part and then the acts will be knit it together.

Mel C and Emma Bunton are thought to be recording in London, Geri Halliwell is doing her bit from her holiday in the South of France, Victoria Beckham is staying put in Madrid, while Mel B is doing her vocals in Los Angeles.

A source told The Sun: "The girls are in different countries and couldn't agree on a place to meet.

"There's tension after Mel B refused to make a comeback for Live 8. So they agreed to get on with it separately.

"It's early stages. The girls won't release anything if it doesn't sound right - but they are hoping for the best."

In the '90, the Spice Girls' debut album sold 20 million copies. The band enjoyed substantial commercial success through from 1996 to 2000, and are the biggest-selling girl group of all time, having sold in excess of 45 million albums and 30 million singles.

They are also famous for popularizing the term "Girl Power". The group, consisting of Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm, and Melanie Brown have not formally broken up (a fifth member, Geri Halliwell having left in 1998), but have not performed together or released any new recordings since 2000. Posh Spice, Baby Spice, Sporty Spice and Scary Spice have all released solo materials.
