The Spice Girls may be preparing for another comeback, Geri Halliwell hints in recent interview

The Spice Girls disbanded in 2001 to pursue solo careers but, following heavy demand from fans and some failed attempts at breaking into the music industry as solo artists, they reunited in 2007. In the immediate future, the five singers might join forces again to make another comeback, E! Online says, citing a recent statement from Geri Halliwell.

Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton recently stepped out for dinner in London. Although Victoria Beckham was notably absent from the unofficial reunion (which might as well have been just a night out with the girls), as she was away on business promoting her latest fashion line, reunion rumors immediately began to circulate. Halliwell, on her part, is not doing anything to infirm them, E! points out.

“The Spice Girls […] are mulling another reunion tour, with the ringleader of this latest attempt being the one who originally broke up the girl-powered quintet, Geri Halliwell. The ersthwile Ginger Spice told British television show This Morning that she, Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice) and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) met up for dinner in London last Wednesday and talked about getting back together. Texting in her two cents was Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), who was MIA because she was in the Big Apple launching her new Spring/Summer 2010 collection at New York Fashion Week.” E! writes.

Of course, Halliwell did not make an official announcement, but many see clear hints that all five are prepping another comeback in her statement. Even if that were to happen, though, several music-oriented publications point out, it would still take some time until plans in this direction would materialize, since all five girls are reportedly on tight schedules and would have to put in some extra effort to make the reunion possible.

“We always talk about creative plans.” 37-year-old Ginger Spice said in the aforementioned interview, E! adds. “Whatever happens afterwards is a bonus. Right now, I’ll be honest: we are gathering information about a possibility... [but] when you are evolving a plan, you don’t want to share it with the world.” the singer added. As noted above, many see in these words the closest thing to a confirmation that the Spice Girls are set for a comeback.
