Spice Mobility has just announced the availability of its first Android dual-SIM smartphone in India, the Mi-270.

As we reported earlier this month, Dilip Modi, managing director, Spice Mobility said that the company would launch the Mi-270 in the second week of May.

However, it seems that the Indian handset manufacturer had to delay the launch of its first dual-SIM Android smartphone for one week.

Still, there is some good news, as the phone is now priced much cheaper than the suggested retail price. Spice Mi-270 is now available for Rs. 5700 (about $126), instead of the recommended company price of Rs. 6500 ($about $143).

Furthermore, the phone was originally rumored to run Android 2.1 Eclair, but the Mi-270 is delivered with Android 2.2 Froyo on board.

On the negative side, the allegedly 3.7-inch capacitive screen has been replaced with a much smaller 2.8-inch QVGA display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution.

It appears that the phone is powered by a 600 MHz processor manufactured by Media Tek, a company focusing on delivering some of the cheapest chipsets for mobile phones.

Mi-270 sports a low-performance 2-megapixel camera, built-in GPS receiver, Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as microSD card support for memory expansion (up to 16 GB).

The device is powered by a 1000 mAh battery that should provide up to 320 hours of standby time or up to 3 hours of talk time.

This is the third Android smartphone launched by Spice Mobility in India, after the Mi-300 and Mi-310 were introduced earlier this year.

The first is an Android 2.1 device with a 3.15-inch capacitive touchscreen, as well as support for 3.5G and HSPA.

The handset has a 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi connectivity, and integrated GPS with AGPS support.

The Spice Mi-310 is the company's 'flagship' phone as it features Android 2.2 (Froyo) on board.

Specs-wise, the phone features integrated GPS and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality with support for up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices.
