The police identified a dangerous driver

It seems like the police will hire some experts to view all the movies published on YouTube very soon, because more and more interesting cases are discovered through the clips published on Google's online video sharing service. Today, BBC informs that a 34-year-old Edinburgh man driving with almost 170mph was the subject of the recently uploaded clip that caught the authorities' attention. The biker was riding a Yamaha R1 and was speeding between Longniddry and North Berwick with 112 mph. After the YouTube uploaded the movie, the police was able to track the suspect, a final decision being expected from the judge.

"Allowing footage of it to be posted on a public website is a sure-fire way of getting caught. Thanks to the clips on the website, we were able to clearly identify the rider of the bike, and stop him in his tracks. We urge this to be a lesson to other drivers who foolishly believe that stunts like these are good entertainment. They are not, they are dangerous and could result in very serious consequences, certainly for yourself, if not some other innocent member of the public," BBC reported.

As you surely know, this is not the first case that involves both YouTube and the authorities. Some time ago, it was reported that a surveillance video was posted by a policeman looking for more information about a potential suspect, requiring users' help. Another similar case was recently made public, the authorities trying to arrest a speedster after he published a movie on the Google video service. Although the registration number was included in the movie, the police was unable to arrest him as there was no evidence able to show the date or other moment of the recording.
