Most smartwatches today can be paired with an Android smartphone or tablet. But different companies have different strategies.

For example, Samsung is keeping everything in house and its latest wearables, the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit are compatible only with the Galaxy range of devices.

This strategy puts a damper on those who own another type of smartphone but would still like to purchase a smartwatch. Anyway Indonesian company SpeedUp is looking to provide those looking to adopt a smatwatch an alternative.

They have currently released their wearable offering, simply called the SpeedUp Smartwatch, which is up for pre-order for the relatively decent $129 / €94.

The watch arrives with a 1.54-inch display and draws power from a 1GHz single-core CPU working in concert with 512MB of RAM and backed up by 4GB of storage. Note that the device runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and is IPS7 certified, therefore it is water resistant.

The SpeedUp Smartwatch can be paired with iOS or Android devices and is capable of running BBM. However, the smartwatch doesn’t seem to be compatible with BlackBerry 10 at this point, but the company might add this feature in the near future.
