The market for audio products is just as active as ever, as SpeedLink is now taking its turn at releasing a new product, namely the newest headset it made for those who want both sound quality and endurance.

Like all other segments of the IT industry, the audio market is one which evolves along with consumer preferences, and this is in addition to all the new technologies that crop up.

Headphones, for instance, took off when customers began to exhibit a preference for such items en masse.

Since then, part of the general effort on the audio market has been used for improving their performance, versatility, design, endurance, etc.

The new set that SpeedLink made can be said to rank somewhere in the upper half according to any of the above.

Dubbed Xanthos, it is made in such a way that it works with not just personal computers (PCs), but also Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gaming consoles.

It should be available for online order already, in Europe at least, for the price of 49.99 Euro, which is the rough equivalent of $67.50.

Some might see it as steep, until they realize that SpeedLink used padded earcups, a rugged, fold-away microphone and stereo sound while still succeeding in keeping things fairly lightweight (310 grams).

There is also a flexible headband, so that anyone can find the item comfortable to wear, even over long periods of time.

The outfit also threw in a 3-meter cable, as well as the obligatory microphone muting and volume adjustment, as part of an in-line remote.

All the above are really just supplements to the headset's ability to deliver deep bass and clear and strong audio, including crisp trebles. What remains is to see how many prospective customers are reeled in by these promises of enjoyment and comfort.
