Yazsoft has released a new version of Speed Download Lite, the stripped-down version of its powerful download manager for Mac OS X. Available for both Tiger and Leopard (Intel and PPC), the newly updated software now provides users with the ability to download mp4 files, in addition to flv support (for YouTube downloads), and adds support for .aax mime type. Yazsoft also claims it has been able to fix an issue occurring when resuming with one particular server.

For those who are not very familiar with the software, Yazsoft's powerful download manager is optimized for any Internet connection (dial-up or broadband), and it can collect and organize all of one's downloads. Speed Download Lite and Speed Download 5 both use the same download engine, to give users the fastest and most reliable download experience on the Mac, Yazsoft says.

As the developer itself notes, “Speed Download Lite is simply a stripped down version of Speed Download 5, offering just the download manager – without any of the extra features (i.e. FTP, File Sharing, WEBDAV, etc.) found in Speed Download 5.” Yazsoft felt compelled to create the Lite version of the software after noticing a huge demand from users who just wanted the download manager part of Speed Download.

Both Speed Download 5 and Speed download Lite offer the same level of integration with web browsers, as well as a top-notch performance and reliability.
