If you want to play safe, no matter the operating system you are using and your Internet connection type, a download manager is a good thing to have. Of course nothing can make you choose such a program until you fail to download a 2GB file from the Internet, or even a smaller one, since if you have a slower connection, even 200MB can be "huge". Experience makes us wise, and while our experience as Internet users makes us start using download managers in most cases, for software producers, experience gives birth to new versions of their products.

Yesterday, Yazsoft announced the release of Speed Download 4.1.7, a major update to this fourth generation of this award-winning download manager, but things aren't stopping here! The best part for all of us, even for those that are not using this program yet, is the iPod giveaway. All you have to do is submit your email to [email protected] and keep your fingers crossed. There will be only one lucky winner, and the prize is a brand new 8GB red Apple iPod nano! The last day to send your emails is December 23, and the winner will be selected at random draw in the last week of this year and notified by email.

Getting back to the download manager, I have to tell you that the new version adds some new features and improvements and, of course, it is a recommended update for all Speed Download 4 users. This application now includes a link to Transmission, a free and easy to use, lightweight Torrent client. The price of a single license is 25$, runs on Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later, and comes as an Universal Binary. Are you ready to start downloading with Speed Download?
