Astronomers and stargazers are anticipating the upcoming ISON comet

Whether comet ISON may or may not be the "comet of the century," we'll find out towards the end of the year.

If it makes it out in one piece from its very close flyby of the sun, it should be one of the brightest we've seen in a very long time. But, just as easily, it might disintegrate and crash into the star at the center of the solar system.

In the meantime, stargazers, or rather comet-gazers, are keeping an eye on some of the other interesting comets of this year, specifically the comet Pan-STARRS, or C/2011 L4 Pan-STARRS, which is now moving away from the sun.

One such comet watcher managed to get several spectacular shots of the astral body. Joseph Brimacombe captured the comet during several days of shooting.
