The social networking website, Facebook, has just released a version of its site especially designed to work on the iPhone. This is one of the most welcomed apps for this handset, from all those that have been released until now in order to make it even more user-friendly.

The new Facebook interface is capable of sliding horizontally as the user chooses options, one of the important features of the iPhone. The design has also been improved in order to give easy access to the most important features that usually interest people who use this site.

The site uses javascript to avoid page refreshes and also places the main navigation tabs close at reach. The Home, Profile, friends and Inbox buttons are all displayed at the top of the screen. The user has the possibility of clicking on any person and viewing their profile or photos in a horizontally scrolling interface.

The new iPhone adapted Facebook website has not been released yet, which leaves time for developers to fix any possible bugs that it might encounter during normal use. Their decision to adapt to the iPhone's capabilities comes as a result of a high possibility to find a match between their subscribers and the new users for Apple's phone.

Facebook is a free social networking website targeted mostly at youngsters. The new app that allows it to be used on the iPhone has been designed by Joe Hewitt, who has recently joined this company.

Facebook currently holds the largest number of registered users among college-focused sites. This has resulted in more than 34 million active members worldwide and a place among the top 10-13 websites. Moreover, Facebook has been found to be the main site for photos in the US, ahead of all others. This means a huge number of users, especially youngsters, with high chances of scoring many iPhone owners.
