Carphone Warhouse and Best Buy have announced the exclusive availability of a celebratory Special Edition Royal Wedding handset starting March 22nd.

The feature-phone will offer customers the chance to get in the spirit for the wedding of the year, between Kate Middleton and Prince William.

Manufactured by Alcatel, the slim, and stylish candy bar features a special case dressed in UK's Union Jack flag and the royal couple’s initials and wedding date inscribed on the back of the phone.

The phone also features a Prince William and Catherine customized wallpaper and two special ringtones to celebrate this memorable occasion, Felix Mendelssohn’s “Wedding March,” along with “God Save The Queen.”

The special Alcatel One Touch feature-phone can be purchased for £14.95 on Pay As You Go, while the basic Grey version of the phone can be bought for only for £0.01 from Carphone Warehouse.

Mark Eastham, Commercial Director for The Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy said, “We are delighted to offer this fun, limited edition, Royal Wedding – themed phone to our customers. It’s great to offer a product which really taps into the national spirit over the coming months, and is still an affordable option for customers”.

The Special Edition Royal Wedding phone has a very small 1.5-inch color screen with 65K colors support and 128 x 128 pixels resolution and it weighs only 68g.

It is equipped with a battery that offers up to 5 hours talk time and up to 13 days standby time. In addition the feature-phone includes an FM radio, 64 polyphonic ringtones, digital organizer, a clock with alarm, torch and calculator.

Coincidence or not, the royal couple's initials “C&W” (Catherine and William) inscribed on the back of the phone are the same as the retailer's that sells the handset, Carphone Warehouse.
