Piriform released a new version for Speccy, their advanced system information tool for Windows. The focus in this new build is on expanded hardware detection, mostly as far as Intel chipsets and processors are concerned.

However, Speccy 1.17 comes with more than CPU detection for the latest Intel Core i7 models, as it also improves compatibility with LGA 2011 motherboards.

Additionally, the new revision can detect whether it runs on a desktop or laptop (displays this detail under Operating System section) and offers information about connected external drives under Peripherals section. Moreover, detection of Sharing and Discovery for printers has been improved, just like exception handling.

Speccy is a software utility designed to collect information about the hardware components available on the system, from RAM and CPU to motherboard, graphics and peripherals. It is also available as a portable download.
