Video game developer Yager and publisher 2K Games have offered information on the core 4 on 4 multiplayer mode for the upcoming shooter Spec Ops: The Line, showing how the Damned and the Exiles face off in the sands of Dubai.

Spec Ops will allow players to join with one another and create personalized characters before using teamwork and special abilities in order to defeat the enemy team.

The Premium Edition for Spec Ops: The Line will also include content linked to the multiplayer side of the game:

– double experience gain for the first week the game is out, helping them get a better character ranking and better options; – unlockable AK-47 at rank one; – unlockable Officer Class at rank one, allowing players to create teams where less damage is taken and the effectiveness of other character classes is increased; – FUBAR pack access, which includes a number of exclusive accessories that allow gamers to create a unique visual identity for their characters.

The multiplayer side of Spec Ops: The Line will use the same core gameplay elements as the single player, with tactics and cover more important than sprinting around spraying bullets in the general direction of the enemy.

The Dubai setting, with its skyscrapers filled with sand by monster storms, will also mean that payers will need to pay attention to the environment.

The single player campaign for The Line is inspired by Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now and will see Captain Martin Walke and his Delta Force squad enter the country in order to extract a Special Forces officer who has gone rogue with his unit.

Spec Ops: The Line will be launched on the PC, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 on June 26 in the United States and three days later in Europe.
