Officially released at the end of June 2012, the ninth installment in the Spec Ops series, Spec Ops: The Line, is a third-person shooter video game published by 2K Games and developed by Yager Development.

The Spec Ops: The Line Linux port will be available to users worldwide later this year, thanks to Virtual Programming Ltd, a company known for publishing games and other software for Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, and Linux operating systems.

Powered by Unreal Engine 3, Spec Ops: The Line is a great-looking third-person shooter game with an emphasis on elements of squad-based tactics and cover.

While being initially released for Microsoft Windows operating systems, as well as PS3 (PlayStation 3) and Xbox 360 gaming consoles back in 2012, the game was successfully ported to the Mac OS X platform a year later.

Now, three years after the official release of the game, we will be able to install and play Spec Ops: The Line on our Linux kernel-based operating systems, natively.

At the moment, the Spec Ops: The Line Linux port is currently in Alpha stages of development, according to Virtual Programming's official website. Let's hope that the port will be finished by year's end.
