Walt Williams, one of the writers at 2K Games, has left the studio. For the time being, what he'll be up to is unknown, but he has mentioned that it's still going to be game industry-related.

Williams revealed his departure from 2K Games via Twiter, stating that he is "sad to announce" that September 5 would be his final day at the studio.

During his nine years with the studio, he worked on numerous AAA games, like Spec Ops: The Line, Yager's controversial third-person shooter, a war game that takes a different perspective to the usual heroic soldier portrayed in modern shooters.

His latest projects include two great upcoming games, Turtle Rock Studios' Evolve and Firaxis' Civilization: Beyond Earth, both of which will have Walt Williams' name in the credits, marked under Senior Writer / Designer.

"I'll still be working in games, but in the background. Which means there won't be a 'next game' for a while. BUT-- there will be books," Williams clarified via Twitter, when asked about his future projects.

Evolve is currently scheduled for launch on February 10, 2015, coming to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and Civilization: Beyond Earth is slated for released on October 24, 2014, coming to PC, with Mac and Linux versions also in the making.
