Spartan will soon become Microsoft’s big bet in the Windows browser world, and chances are that a technical preview build of Windows 10 could provide us with a glimpse of what the new app could look like before the public debut in the final version of the OS.

In the meantime, all we have is unconfirmed details and now a new report claims that Spartan, or whatever new name the browser will get when it’s ready to ship, will be available on all Windows 10 versions, not only on the desktop.

At first, Spartan is going to be offered alongside Internet Explorer, sources say, as Microsoft wants to make sure that no compatibility issues are experienced by users and companies worldwide which developed apps for their own employees or customers.

Also coming with a Modern version for tablet users

In Windows 10, Spartan will be available for pretty much every device running the new operating system, including desktops, tablets, and smartphones.

In addition to a desktop browser, Spartan is also very likely to come with a Metro build that will be specifically designed for tablets with ARM processors and phones. This particular version will also support Flash, Neowin writes, and could also arrive on the Xbox at some point in the future.

What’s more, Spartan will be developed in such a way that it “will determine which features are available to you,” the aforementioned source writes, adding that this is going to become the new Modern browser in Windows 10, and Internet Explorer will only be offered on the desktop for compatibility purposes.

Details about Spartan’s implementation in Windows 10 are expected to be shared during the January 21 event in Redmond, when the software giant is also projected to reveal more information about the consumer experience in the new operating system.

An early version of the browser could also show up, but do not expect the application to become available for testing anytime soon.
