Paweł Pijanowski had the pleasure of announcing last evening, July 7, the immediate availability for download of the 3.4 release for the GameOver edition of his SparkyLinux operating system.

Powered by Linux kernel 3.14.7, the 3.4 release of SparkyLinux GameOver includes all the upstream updates from Debian Testing software repositories as of July 3, 2014.

Support for installation on computers with the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) has been added, systemd is now used as the default init system, and the repository list has been split too.

The hardinfo and mintstick packages have been added, Steam for Linux and Steam Launcher were updated to version 1.0.0.48, and the Desura for Linux, Wine and PlayOnLinux applications have also been added.

In addition, the brand-new OS updates the Iceweasel web browser to version 30.0, the LXDE desktop environment to version 0.5.5, the Openbox window manager to version 3.5.2, and the PCManFM file manager to version 1.2.0.

Last but not least, the DeSmuME, DOSBox, MAME, NEStopia, PCSX-Reloaded, Stella, Visual Boy Advance, Yabause and ZSNES emulators are also included, along with a plethora of Linux games. More details about this release can be found in the official release announcement.
