SparkyLinux, a lightweight, fast, and simple Linux distribution designed for both old and new computers has just received a 3.3.2-test1 Base Edition.

The SparkyLinux 3.3 “Annagerman” system is built on Debian GNU/Linux “Jessie,” just like the previous versions. The developer usually releases versions with various desktop environments, but this is just the Base, which means that it's only for command-line fans.

“The release features the system installer with EFI support for 64 bit machines. As I said before, I can’t test it on a physical machine with EFI, because I don’t have any. I have tested it on VirtualBox with EFI mode enabled, but it doesn’t work for me well. It’s not a problem with Sparky only, I can’t run properly any Linux distribution on VBox in EFI mode after installation on it,” said the developer in the announcement.

Users have been asked to test the distribution and report back with any problems that they might encounter. A complete list of changes, new features, new packages, and fixes can be found in the official announcement of the SparkyLinux distro.

You can download SparkyLinux Base 3.3.1 / 3.3.2 Test 1 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
