Sparkle had quite an impressive number of Nvidia graphics cards on display at the CeBIT fair and one of the most interesting models to be presented was the Calibre 580 GTX Captain GPU which came with no less than five display outputs.

As is the case with most other GTX 580 based solutions, Sparkle used Nvidia's reference dual-slot cooler for building the Captain, but, in order to give it a more personal touch, opted for using a gold plated finishing for the sticker covering the card's shroud.

In addition, the Captain features an unusual number of display outputs as, next to the two regular DVI ports available on the GTX 580, Sparkle has also installed three mini-DisplayPort connectors.

Otherwise, the Captain is just a regular GTX 580 card, although Sparkle could still have some surprises in store for us as it hasn't yet determined the clocks that the GPU is going to be run at.

The GeForce GTX 580 graphics card is based on the GF110 core and features 512 stream processors, 64 texturing units, 48 ROPs as well as a 384-bit memory bus that is connected to 1.5GB of GDDR5 frame buffer.

The card is built using TSMC's 40nm manufacturing process and has a TDP of 244W.

In addition to the Calibre GTX 580 Captain, Sparkle has also showcased a wide selection of GTX 570, GTX 560, GTS 450 and GeForce 440 GT graphics cards.

Of all the models, particularly interesting was a single slot GTX 570 solution, dubbed the Sparkle One, that features a longer printed circuit board as well as slightly factory overclocked core.

No details regarding pricing and availability of the Calibre GTX 580 Captain were made public at the CeBIT fair, but the card is expected to launch in the not-so-distant future. (via ComputerBase)
