The Spanish Royal House has warned Koch Media, the publishers of the fighting game Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, that they might initiate legal action linked to copyright because the developers have included an alternate costume for Magneto, which is very similar to an official uniform worn by the King.
The uniform was initially created by Marvel way back for Magneto for the storyline seen in House of M.
Since then the comic book company has apologized and changed the costume but it seems that Koch Media was not aware of the issues linked to the costume.
Capcom, who created Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, has not offered an official position on the use of the Magneto alternative costume.
It will likely be removed over the opposition of the Spanish Royal House.
Capcom’s next big project is Street Fighter x Tekken, which will be launched during the first half of 2012.
