Millions of selfies are posted on the Internet every day through social networks, but these pictures created by hyper-realist artist Eloy Morales dwarfs them all.

The 40-year-old Spanish artist puts a different twist on the concept of self-portrait with his amazing paintings.

“I never had painted myself before this series, but it just makes sense this way,” said Morales, adding that “It’s a conceptual self-portrait, a reflection of my complex relationship with paint.”

Morales doesn’t need a camera to portray himself nor special effects to enhance the colors. His brushes, canvas and talent are just enough to create some incredible pieces of art.

His paintings show his face full of paint with hyper-realistic details and perfect color transitions. Despite the astonishing accuracy of his portraits, Morales wants to avoid classifying his style and giving it a name.

“I don't think you can choose a premeditated style, your style comes from the decisions you take through the years,” he says, according to the Mirror.

At first glance, you might think you’re looking at some photos of a man with paint on his face, but in fact they are incredible hyper-realistic oil paintings.

In addition to the self-portraits he creates, he also uses family and friends as models. For each creation, the painter not only concentrates on the physical aspects of the model, but also tries to expose psychological aspects of the portrayed individual.

For the artist, the paintings he creates are a way of self-expression, a means to show his inner world. His artwork has been exhibited in various parts of the world, from Spain, Italy, and France, to England, Mexico, and New York.

Hyperrealism is a genre of painting and sculpture resembling a high-resolution photograph which practically erases the line between photography and reality.
