The Dragon is now in orbit, but it will take it a few days to reach the ISS

SpaceX has just launched its Dragon capsule, on top of the Falcon rocket it has also designed and built, on its second resupply mission to the ISS, the second ever commercial mission.

The first happened late last year, though the Dragon capsule had docked with the International Space Station before, in a test flight.

The rocket has almost left the Earth's atmosphere at this point and everything seems to be in order. The launch is being streamed live by NASA, as well as SpaceX.

The capsule has now separated from the rocket. There may have been some problems with the capsule as it achieved orbit, but SpaceX isn't saying anything for now.

The capsule is carrying about one ton of supplies and experiments for the International Space Station. It should dock with the station soon; it takes several orbits to reach the ISS' altitude from the altitude the capsule gets separated from the rocket.
