Video game publisher THQ has announced that the second downloadable content pack for its third person shooter Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine will be called The Dreadnought and is set to be launched both in the United States and in Europe on January 25.

The DLC will add a whole new multiplayer game mode called Dreadnought Assault, where players will have to capture a control point in order to spawn a player controlled Dreadnought that can then go around the map and capture locations on the map in order to score points.

The Dreadnought will be a powerful fighting machine, armed with a Power Fist, a Meltagun and an Autocannon and once it is destroyed the whole process starts over, with another control point linked to the mech.

The DLC also comes complete with three new multiplayer maps: Chem Refinery, Dome Mechanicus and Desolation, which have been designed with the new mode in mind.

The Dreadnought DLC will cost 800 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360 and 9.99 dollars (7.76 Euro) on the PlayStation Network.

At the same time all players who have bought Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine will get free access to a new game mode called Capture and Control, which will rely on teams to capture and hold locations on all the game’s maps.

THQ is also launching two skin packs on January 25, called Iron Hands and Death Guard, which allow players to customize their characters with the insignia and colors of their favorite Space Marine chapter.

The skin packs will cost 240 Microsoft Points or 2.99 dollars (2.32 Euro).

The future of the Warhammer 40,000 based titles that are currently in development at THQ has been recently cast into doubt when an insider suggested that the company was canceling all the games it was supposed to launch in 2014 but the publisher quickly denied any such move.

At the moment Relic is working on Dawn of War III while another team created a Warhammer 40,000 MMO.
