You might not know who the folks over at Keen Software House are, but most of you have probably heard about their game Space Engineers that topped the sellers list numerous times over the years.

Since its launch back in October 2013, Space Engineers has sold more than 1 million copies and it’s still among the best-selling games on Steam. Unfortunately, the game is still in Early Access and it would have been fair for customers who have already purchased it to get the final version before developers announce a new project.

Anyway, fans of the game concept brought up by Space Engineers will be pleased to know that the folks at Keen Software House have just announced their new game, Medieval Engineers.

The game is now in alpha stage of development and will soon be released on Steam Early Access, so anyone who wants to try it out can purchase it. Although there are no details on the price tag, there’s a high chance that this one won’t go cheaper than Space Engineers, which is now available for more than €20 ($25).

The game is inspired by real medieval technology and old building processes used at that time

Just like the first “engineering” game released by Keen, Medieval Engineers is a sandbox game about construction, maintenance of architectural works and mechanical equipment using medieval technology.

This sounds slightly more complex than Space Engineers, but the amount of content and quality will probably determine how popular the game will be among fans of the genre.

It’s also worth mentioning that Medieval Engineers has been inspired by real medieval technology and the way people usually built architectural and mechanical works in those times.

According to developers, Medieval Engineers “strives to follow the laws of physics and real history and doesn’t use technologies that were not available in 5th to 15th century.”

That being said, it remains to be seen how accurate the description is in comparison with the game. Also, let’s hope Medieval Engineers won’t remain in Steam Early Access for years like the predecessor.
