We got to admire many great games during Microsoft’s E3 2012 press conference and, among them, there was South Park: The Stick of Truth, the upcoming role-playing game based on the popular TV show, which received a new trailer and quite a lot of details.

South Park games didn’t exactly impress many fans in the past, but now, with The Stick of Truth, Obsidian, together with THQ and the creators of the series, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, are trying to deliver a great experience.

Players take on the role of a new resident of South Park who must make friends with the show’s four heroes and engage in their make-believe fantasy war that, slowly but surely, becomes a part of reality.

“You begin as the new kid in town facing a harrowing challenge: making friends,” the game’s description reads. “As you start your quest the children of South Park are embroiled in a city-wide, live-action-role-playing game, casting imaginary spells and swinging fake swords. Over time the simple children’s game escalates into a battle of good and evil that threatens to consume the world.”

“Arm yourself with weapons of legend to defeat crabpeople, underpants gnomes, hippies and other forces of evil. Discover the lost Stick of Truth and earn your place at the side of Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny as their new friend. Succeed, and you shall be South Park’s savior, cementing your social status in South Park Elementary. Fail, and you will forever be known… as a loser.”

Quite a lot of interesting features are included in the game, from the faithful recreation of the South Park visual style, to the inclusion of all sorts of extra characters and weapons that can be customized, so check them out below.

The Definitive South Park Experience - Written and voiced by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, The Stick of Truth brings their unique brand of humor to video gaming.
