A heart-shaped face is considered an ideal of feminine beauty and, because they’re not born with it, women from all over the world go under the knife to get it. However, nowhere else are the transformations as drastic as they are in East Asia.

There, having a heart-shaped face, big eyes, and a “perfect” nose are a must, to the point where plastic surgery is seeing an unprecedented boost because so many women and girls are flocking to have their facial features altered to fit the mold.

One of them is also a gorgeous reporter from South Korea, who has become an unwilling viral star after her before and after photos emerged online, Rocket News 24 reports. The transformation is so drastic that she hardly seems the same woman in the after-surgery pics.

While her case isn’t singular since 1 in 5 women between the ages 19-49 has had some kind of work done, it does speak volumes as to the lengths some would go to achieve a look deemed “ideal” by others.

Attached to this article are the two photos now making the rounds online, getting many to wonder whether some Photoshop work wasn’t at play in the “before” shot. The woman was stunning from the start but she completely transformed herself by having her jaw cut to give her a V-shaped chin.

She also seems to have her eyes done to make them larger.

“[She underwent] jaw surgery, a high-risk operation which involves re-aligning the jaw and shaving off parts of the bone to create a ‘heart shape’,” the Daily Mail writes.

And that’s just one risky intervention women submit themselves to in the country, sometimes from a very early age.

“The most popular surgical procedures include double eyelid surgery - which reduces excess skin in the upper eyelid to make the eyes appear bigger, lipoplasty - which uses high-frequency sound waves to eliminate fat - and nose jobs,” adds the publication speaking of the most popular interventions.
