400 people have been evacuated in the town of South Fork in Colorado amid reports of fast-burning wildfire.

The area has been described as filled with black smoke, but you can get a look at how the mountainous region is looking in the video report posted above this news blog.

According to the AP, the South Fork fire is growing “exponentially” and there are worries about the small town being completely obliterated. As of a few hours ago, the flames were advancing at a rate of one mile (1.6 km) per hour.

Red Cross Director for Colorado Cindy Shank, also a former member of the fire brigade, informs that the hot weather and strong winds are fueling the blaze. The fire has split in two and it is spreading along the San Juan mountains.
