South African artist Chris Slabber has created a beautiful new series of paint in water sculptures called Destruction/Creation. The stunning collection of images shows human faces emerging from clouds of colored paint swirling in water or other fluids.

According to Distractify, Slabber took inspiration from the works of Alberto Seveso, which include high speed photos of paint and ink dropped into water, but he took the idea a step further by using digital photo manipulation to form distinctive human figures or body shapes in the billows of paint, resulting in spectacular portraits.

“The idea behind this series was to show that from Destruction comes Creation. As the paint falls there is a constant point of creation, but at the same time it destroys itself,” the artist says about his work.

While the photos of the flowing paint in fluid were already pretty spectacular, the artist transformed them into stunning illustrations by combining them with photographic portraits.

As you can see in the photo gallery below, perfect contours emerge from clouds of gold, black, turquoise, and cerulean paint.

The amazing water sculptures were exhibited at KKNK 2014, an Afrikaans-themed arts and culture festival, as part of a gallery called Art Karoo.
