This year Apple will indeed release a new iPhone version that not only ships in black and white color options, but a gold one as well.

The final confirmation comes – after numerous other reports – from the WSJ-owned All Things D, which often provides accurate information about Apple’s unreleased products.

And this time shouldn’t be any different. Citing sources in a position to know, the report states that “Apple, after years of offering the iPhone in either black and white, will soon offer it in a gold tone, as well.”

The source cited in the report said not to expect an ingot type of golden finish, but rather an elegant, “champagne” tone.

As previously reported, the phone will reportedly have a white face with chamfered edges. Apple is widely expected (according to the same AllThingsD) to unveil its next-generation iPhone 5S on September 10.
