A source inside the development arm of Microsoft has told CVG that a recent leaked document seemed to show the core elements of the next Xbox home console from the company was genuine.

The manifesto is 56 pages long and has been circulating online for some time before Microsoft decided to issue takedown notices to the sites that were hosting it or using details in their own speculation.

CVG has used the input of executives from publishing, developers and 3D tech firms to verify the various details included in the leak and see whether the features could be implemented in a hardware platform.

An official statement from Microsoft reads, “We understand there is great interest and anticipation for what comes next for Xbox and we are lucky to have customers who are so passionate about the platform.“

It adds, “Today, there has never been a better time to own an Xbox 360 console. We have found new ways to extend the console lifecycle by introducing controller-free experiences with Kinect and we’ve re-invented the console with a new dashboard and new entertainment content partnerships.

“We are continually thinking about the future of the platform and when we have something to share, we will.”

Many video game fans declared the recent E3 2012 event a failure because neither Microsoft nor Sony officially announced their projects for the next generation of home consoles.

Nintendo is preparing to launch its own Wii U before the Christmas shopping season on all major markets, although the company also disappointed by not releasing an exact date and a price.

The analysts watching the video game industry believe that official announcements from Sony and Microsoft will arrive before 2012 is over and that launches might take place next year.

A recent rumor from inside Microsoft declared that the next Xbox home console would be offered during spring 2014.
