14 DAY TRIAL // Nokia has just announced on its Beta Labs official blog that Soundtrckr developers have released an updated beta of the software, which fixes some of the bugs identified by users.
The application made its debut two weeks ago as part of a series in which Nokia is inviting application developers to showcase their apps at Nokia Beta Labs.
Soundtrckr is the first Geosocial Internet radio compatible with Nokia Symbian S^3 devices and S60 5th Edition smartphones with Java Runtime 2.1 installed. The application is also available on other mobile platforms such as iOS and Windows Phone 7.
Soundtrckr users tune into nearby stations created by other users and play whatever songs they like most. Sharing stations can be easily done via email, Twitter, as well as through the application itself.
Developers have also added a “find and invite friends” feature that uses Twitter, Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail and AOL.
Unlike Spotify, Sountrckr is free and doesn't require a monthly payment. Also, the application includes a free catalog of tracks, while Spotify is offered as an on-demand service.
Other highlights of the application include:
- More than 8 million fully licensed songs - any artist, any genre, anytime; - Create and share personal radio stations; - Play music with friends in real time; - Search your city for popular music and people with similar taste; - Share your favorite stations on social networks. Even though Soundtrckr is still in beta stage, the application has received a lot of positive feedback from the Nokia Beta Labs community, thus it will probably be released as a final version soon.
The latest Soundtrckr beta (1.0.7) resolves some of the issues identified by users:
- Enabled persistent connection with Twitter (Users do not need to log-in on twitter each time they exit and re-enter the app); - Enabled user profile photo upload from locally stored photos; - Added exit button on settings page; - Extended compatibility to S60 5th edition devices running on Java 2.1 available on Nokia Beta Labs; - Bug fixes for stability and performance.
