The audio solutions market really seems to be on a roll this week, since yet another product, this time a wireless speaker, appeared, ready to serve owners of anything from PCs to smartphones.

When wireless connectivity spread from the computer to the consumer electronics front, it became obvious that the cable-free era was steadily nearing.

Now that even the smallest of smartphones have WiFi and Bluetooth by default, makers of electronic products are taking quite a few liberties.

The new speaker that Bose made isn't overly sophisticated, not as far as its design goes at least, but its connectivity and sound output are nothing to scoff at.

Dubbed SoundLink, the wireless speaker can link to notebook, tablets, smartphones, and anything else with Bluetooth support.

"People want to listen to their music everywhere," said John Roselli, director of Bose Product Marketing.

"And millions of consumers already own Bluetooth enabled devices like the iPhone, iPad and Android phones that can store thousands of songs. But there hasn't been a way to experience that content like the SoundLink Wireless Mobile speaker. With no wires or docking needed, its magic becomes evident the first time you hold it, and the first time you hear it."

Equipped with a battery that can last for up to 8 hours on a single charge, the speaker has four low-profile neodymium transducers and Bose digital signal processing algorithms (maintain audio quality at any volume).

Additionally, Bose managed to keep the item at just two inches of thickness, with a standard trim level and dark gray Cordura nylon cover.

All in all, the SoundLink Wireless Mobile speaker costs $299.95, or $349.95 (LX model with a premium trim level and a dark brown leather cover).

"Bluetooth speakers have been available before today, but we believe the SoundLink Wireless Mobile speaker represents a step forward -- a better experience," said Roselli.
