Nifty Mac utility from the people at Prosoft Engineering

The code-savvy folks at Prosoft Engineering have come up with a simple utility that allows Mac users to control the volume of individual applications from a single interface.

As the developers themselves put it, “SoundBunny allows you to control the volume level for all open applications on your Mac.”

The most common scenario for users will be to set the volume high for a movie or game they’re playing, and set the volume to low for stuff like alerts and notifications. Of course, you can tweak everything just the way you like it.

The app’s setup is idiot-proof, though it does require a reboot after installation. “Once you've restarted, simply drag the volume level sliders for each open application and you're off and hopping!”, says Prosoft.

"Finally a way to control the volume level independently for all open applications on your Mac," says Greg Brewer, CEO of Prosoft Engineering, Inc.

"Now you can listen to your music or movies loud without the interruption of "whoosh" from an incoming mail notification or ‘ping’ of a new instant message. Prosoft's SoundBunny application is a simple and easy solution for under $10."

SoundBunny requires an Intel Processor-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard or newer. There’s a demo version that runs for 30 days without any restrictions, and the full app costs $9.99 (around 7,5 EUR).

Prosoft Engineering does a great job at coding Mac apps, but the company is mainly software publisher/producer focused on data recovery software and utilities to protect your computer data.

Prosoft has distribution partners throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. Unfortunately, they don’t sell SoundBunny through Apple’s Mac App Store, but that doesn’t mean it’s not on their roadmap.
