Not to scare you into never again wanting to set foot in a McDonald's, but as it turns out, seriously messed-up things can happen at restaurants owned by this fast food chain.

For instance, it was only a few days ago that a man in the US visited a local McDonald's joint, ordered himself an ice cream sundae and got what might just be the creepiest treat ever.

In a nutshell, the man, whose identity remains a mystery, was handed an ice cream sundae that looked like it had a skull floating about in it. No, really, check out the photo accompanying this article to see for yourself.

“Hey, McDonald's, I ordered a sundae but instead you gave me the souls of the damned, did I have to pay extra for this?” the man wrote in a message on Twitter when sharing the photo of the scary-looking sundae with the world.

Shortly after being posted on the social networking site, the picture went viral. It has until now been retweeted tens of thousands of times, and for some reason, folks seem unable to get enough of it.

Truth be told, sugary treats are bad for our health and our waistline. Then again, it makes no sense for McDonald's to try and warn us about this by putting skulls in our sundaes, not unless the fast food chain has suddenly grown a consciousness.
