After outperforming other eight anti-virus solutions

Sophos, a leader in integrated threat management solutions, has issued a statement revealing that its Anti-Virus solution has been complemented with the Virus Bulletin 100% award for the 33rd time. In order to qualify for the prestigious award, Sophos Anti-virus had to meet a certain criteria imposed by the Virus Bulletin magazine, namely the detection of viruses in the wild upon on-demand and on-access scanning and advanced accuracy as the generation of false positives is a disqualifying aspect.

The Virus Bulletin magazine has considered that Anti-Virus meets the standards as it has awarded the Virus Bulletin 100% prize to Sophos anti-viral solutions no less than 33 times. The award was given following rigorous tests performed on the Novell NetWare operating system. Sophos Anti-Virus outperformed all of its competitors, detecting the polymorphic viruses in the wild and also returning no false positives upon scanning a volume of clean files. Out of the eight similar anti-viral solutions tested, Sophos Anti-Virus has scored the highest rates on the accuracy and speed of detection.

"The Virus Bulletin 100% awards recognize those products best able to detect viruses known to be 'in the wild'. Unlike some other similar-sounding schemes, Virus Bulletin uses the most up-to-date WildList in its tests. This means that products that are 'up with the game' are the ones most likely to be granted VB 100% awards," reads a message posted on Sophos Website.
