She first set foot on the same stage in 1950 when she too dreamed of being crowned Miss Italia but, truth be told, at 75, screen siren Sophia Loren is just as gorgeous as ever.

The actress was a member of the judge panel for the 2010 issue of the beauty pageant but, as the Daily Mail puts it, it was like she was a contender as well – that impeccable she looked.

Given her experience with the pageant and being a beauty icon for most her life, she also offered some advice to the hopefuls, while literally showing them that real beauty doesn’t know age.

“Screen goddess Sophia Loren showed beauty pageant contestants exactly how it’s done as she arrived at the Miss Italy contest yesterday,” the Mail writes.

“The actress, who looked absolutely incredible for her 75 years, wore a tight silver dress which enhanced her toned figure as she sat on the judging panel for the pageant in Salsomaggiore Terme,” the British publication also says.

“With her hair teased into an elegant style, Loren, who competed in the pageant herself in 1950, chatted to hopefuls before the competition started, giving them pointers on what they should hope to achieve,” the Mail notes.

Clearly, none of them should dread growing old because, regardless of what science and technology can do to help, it will happen to all of us.

In past interviews, Loren attributed her toned figure to eating a plate of pasta everyday, while her incredibly good looks were reportedly due to her using only natural products or, depending who you asked, bathing in milk.

In a recent interview, though, Loren said it all came down to leading an active life and keeping an open mind – and heart. Optimism and positive thinking are key, she said at the time.

“I always wake up early and jump out of bed – sometimes not wanting to, because one can always find an alibi not to exercise – and then I take a walk for an hour,” the Mail quotes the actress as saying.

“And as I walk round the park I always think, ‘Maybe round the corner I am going to find something beautiful.’ I always think positively. It is very rare that you find me in a mood that is sad or melancholic,” she said.

Still, the most important thing about Loren is that, when it comes to her age, she never tried to hide it – and has never gone under the knife to turn back time.

“I’ve never hidden my age from the world because I don’t care. We can’t hide time. I’m not frightened of it. I’m finding my second youth,” she also said.
